Bridgeton police responded to a 27-year-old man who arrived at Inspira Hospital on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 5, the department said in a news release. Officers learned the man was an assault victim suffering from "non-life-threatening" stab wounds.
Investigators said the stabbing happened in a home on the 100 block of Oak Street. Firefighters responded after officers saw heavy smoke at the home and the firefighters put out the fire.
A 34-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation and was airlifted to Temple University Hospital. Three of her children — ages eight, seven, and two — were at the home but they weren't injured in the fire.
The man and woman were released from the hospitals. No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, Oct. 8.
